WELCOME TO THE HEART OF PURE POUR, WHERE PASSION MEETS PURPOSE AND COFFEE BECOMES MORE THAN JUST A BEVERAGE—IT BECOMES A JOURNEY.
I was confused about why I had so much indigestion. Lisa and I would eat and drink the same things but I would end up eating antacids or sitting up in bed to keep my insides from burning.
At first I thought my stomach issues were caused by caffeine. So I quit drinking coffee completely. That helped but eventually I gave in and started drinking coffee again. Soon I began to experience the same acid reflux and it got so bad that my esophagus swelled and I had some trouble swallowing.
I tried low acid coffee to see if I could find a way to still enjoy coffee without creating all of that stomach acid. It made sense, but those were inconsistent. Some seemed to help a little and others were no help at all. After all, coffee is less acidic than orange juice so it makes sense that the acid in coffee wouldn't cause much trouble.
As I tried different coffees I found that some coffees didn't bother me as much as others. Why? Well, we decided to figure out what was really causing the stomach pains.
Being an engineer, and Lisa being a nurse, we knew a little about how to perform research. So we dug into studies performed concerning caffeine and many other compounds found in coffee. That led us in several directions and we began experimenting.
It took some time and effort but we did it. We learned which compounds help and which ones hurt. The secret is not really how much acid is in the coffee. Instead it is about how much acid the coffee triggers your stomach to produce. All of our coffees are created with a compound balance that keeps your stomach from releasing too much acid.
Since Lisa didn't have stomach issues, she cared more about making sure we had a great flavor. So all of our coffees are made from premium Arabica coffee beans that provide a beautiful full body, smooth flavor. Enjoy!
